Advantages: Lots of choice

Disadvantages: Sometimes very busy

Just one and a half miles away across the Almond Bridge lies Almondvale Shopping Centre. Here there is a mix of a variety of shops where no matter what age you are likely more than not to find what you are looking for.

The centre is basically laid our as a square with a long corridor of shops adjacent to its furthest edge. With the recently enlarged ASDA superstore at the opposite end. The centre is clean and inviting and a bustling hive of activity especially at week-ends. It has the usual facilities in toilets and changing rooms, with a few eating places and coffe shops located throughout.

It is fairly brightly lit and there are signposts and maps to direct customers to their desired locations. There is also a muti-storey car park with over 1700 parking spaces. Apart from the main car park there are also parking facilities at ASDA ( where the time limit is 3 hours )and a small car park to the south and another to the west.

Stage 2 of Almondvale is the New and very popular McArthur Glen Retail outlet which is but a stones throw from the centre itself.

The shopping in the centre is welcoming and the stores often have bargains and discount available. Some of the stores located in the cetre are those typical of most shopping centre's these days but we do have a good few that are not seen in many other places.

There's a fair sized Woolworths, a John Menzies, Boots, River Island, HMV, The Link, Superdrug, Semi-Chem, Poundland, JJB Sports, O2, Rosebys,Jessops, and iceland to name but a few.

There are a good number of buses which run from Edinburgh and pass through or close by to Almondvale. Should you however be driving it is located just of junction 3 of the M8 as you head from Edinburgh to Glasgow.

It is most definately worth a visit and you never know you might just bump into me as i do my weekly shopping.

Summary: A great place to shop

We've visited the MacArthur Glen site here a few times now and it's good although not as good as the York site. Belinda
