Advantages: good back catalogue, independent

Disadvantages: pricey, clueless staff

Andys records are the largest 'independent' chain of record stores in the UK. However, when you think of independent you immediately think of upcoming/underground/cult bands etc. Andys (note the lack of punctuation) is not that type of store. If you want to complete your collection of Status Quo, Camel, Yes or Marillion albums then you've found the right place. Back catalogue is their forte and unless they're mid-price CD's you'll be paying through the nose for the honour of picking them off the shelf. If you want chart items (note: Andys chart has no bearing on sales or popularity) then you'll find a poor selection at prices higher than the bigger stores.

A big problem is that only empty cases are out on the shelves and staff have to scurry out the back and find the contents. One member of staff told me they had a sizeable lost section. Oh, and everything is sorted alphabetically by first name. Imagine the 'John' section.
