Sex sells, and Ann Summers know it. They're one of a few sex shops in my city, and whilst the others are hardcore fetish joints, this one has something for everyone. The hardest thing about the shop is walking in! You have to have a good look round before diving through the door, but I guess that's half the fun.

They sell a full range of items, from gentle sexy underwear to gag masks and dildos. Last week they had samples of lube to try. Quite what they were expecting people to do with it I don't know, but I rubbed it on my hands and I must say they became very slippery. Going home that night smelling of lube wasn't the best thing I've ever done though, and my wife was more than concerned when I told her I'd been with my best mate Selim.

The main reason I go in is for the novelty items: they always have a few fun items like willy toothbrushes which are great for presents. We bought a friend the starter bondage kit last year and he loved it (not sure his wife did though). The shop is filled with friendly staff who know you may be embarrassed, and don't make you feel unwelcome.

The lingerie and sex toys are pretty expensive, and I've found it more cost effective to shop online (I'm revealing a bit about myself here aren't I!) but the fun items are a decent price, and there are changing rooms too so you have the option to see what things look like on (avoiding the age old mistake of giving lingerie to your wife that is too small and just makes her cry).
