Advantages: Discreet friendly staff, range of goodies, range of sizes on lingerie

Disadvantages: Price

I personally like Ann Summers stores, although they are quite expensive, with many online retailers and some emerging high street outlets selling similar items cheaper. However, I tend to be quite loyal to Ann as I know what I am buying, I know the quality I am going to get and most importantly I know that the staff are very friendly and discreet.

The Store
The layout is pretty simple. There tends to be a section for underwear, a section for gifts, fancy dress - stag/hen nights, books and DVDs, toys and then accessories. The fitting rooms are normally spacious and comfortable, and most with a full lock on the door, rather than just a curtain.

The Staff
When you enter the store don't be surprised when you are greeted by the friendly staff and they ask if you need any help or what you're looking for. Be confident, don't be embarrassed, at the end of the day they have millions of customers going in the shop each year, and I would say most people do ask and do talk openly to the member of staff about what they are looking for. However, if you don't want to, and you prefer to be left to your own devices, give the member of staff a polite smile and tell them you are fine; you will be left as you wish. Sometimes, you should remember the staff are there to make sales, if they offer you a pack of batteries or a bumper pack of buzz fresh at the till, then don't be offended.

Lingerie
I like Ann Summers lingerie selection, both their own range and the Knickerbox range they stock. Although it can be a little expensive, they have a good size range, which is important to me. I am not able to buy lingerie by cup size, as it is very ill fitting, so in Ann Summers I can buy it in dress size. This is much more suitable for me. I suppose this is down to personal choice. The lingerie may be expensive, but it is very nice quality. You can expect to pay between £15 and £35 for a camisole / suspender set, up to £45 for a basque, around £6 to £12 for knickers. They do specialist underwear too, as well as a gorgeous, but again expensive, nightwear. Stockings are on long term 3 for 2 deals, so you can generally pick these up quite cheap.

Toys
I would never be shy about buying anything from Ann Summers. You can ask the knowledgeable staff for help, tell them exactly what you're looking for and they will be able to advise you. They haven't always made great recommendations though if I am honest... but it was fun trying them out! None of the toys come with batteries to my knowledge, so you will need to remember these, although they do tend to be quite expensive if you buy them here. Go elsewhere unless you are in a rush and are dying to get home and play! You can also purchase buzz fresh wipes - intimate cleansing for you and your toys, I do think these are a god send, and are worth the investment. Whilst they stock a great range of products, there is nothing much out of the ordinary, their bondage range is a little lame, but again this is all down to personal preference. Shop around if you can't find something suitable for your taste.

Accessories
You can find all kinds of flavoured, sensitive, tingling, enhancing, and water based lubrication in the shop. Along with good quality massage oils, flavoured drops suitable for consumption, handcuffs, and things to tickle and tease with. These make perfect gifts and great enhancements to your toys, or are superb when used alone. All well worth a try.

Christmas
As this time of year is imminent, I shall let you know that they now have 3 for 2 on all novel Christmas gifts. So you can put a little surprise in someone's stocking!

Returns
Provided that you keep the seal intact on the products, such as toys, etc then you can return unwanted goods to the store. Obviously due to the nature of the products, you cannot return certain items and you should make sure you are happy to make the purchase, prior to handing your cash over!

Overall
A fantastic store, I have never once felt embarrassed to go in, the staff are always great, and enhance your buying experience; would just be nice if they reduced their prices a little (but you can watch out for sales!)

Summary: Fab but a little on the expensive side
