Founded in 1973, Argos is the UK's leading consumer goods retail store, that has an operating system of an instore catalogue. Each product in the catalogue has a 7 digit order number, you write this on a slip of paper and the quantity of the product you want and pay at the tills. You will then be given a receipt, which you take to the collection point, where your goods are then handed to you and your receipt stamped to show your order has been received.

New and updated catalogues are released a couple of times a year, each time updated with new products, and old products at lower prices. Quite often you can find other goods on display around the store and its not rare to find sale items near the tills either.

You can also shop online at Argos.com. You can either reserve your goods for store pick up, or you can order for home delivery.
There are several options available to allow you to check stock and reserve items in your store - there is a telephone system, each store has its own code which can be found in the book of the catalogue and you enter this and the product number and an automated system tells you if your product is available. You can also search for your product on the website and from there you can check availability.

There are 2 types of Argos stores, the standard store, and the Extra store. Many items from the catalogue are only available from Extra stores, although it is possible to have these items sent to a non Extra store for pick up. Many of the non Extra stores are missing out as they dont stock the Extra items.
