Advantages: Less Hassle
Disadvantages: You can't see before you buy
Argos is a well known store, I see it on TV and in the paper.
It's like no other store on the high street. You choose what you want from a catalog, then simply go in store with the product number pay and collect.
Well its not that simple, first you have to choose from the massive catalog or use their website, write down the product number or numbers, then go to a store and hope for no crowds and either have another look at the book in store or check your product is in stock (that's if the machines work), then queue at the tills with 1 person on them, who is sorting something out. Then finally get to pay and get your number and collection point, whilst totally dis-regarding the estimated waiting time.
You finally see you item come down the belt and sit there for a few minuites until your number is called. At time when you see your item you have to go for it, for them to actually get it to you and press the button on the system.
I do think Argos is going down quite a bit, but its a bit less hassle, the only thing is you can't see the product before you buy, I think thats why they give you a 16day money back guarantee, as if you can't see the product before you buy, you are aloud to return it by law, without having a reason, but they don't let you do this for any software.
Summary: Good store, with difference, but it has its problems.

- 06/11/08 Yeah defo...my store certainly isn't like that. You can view, go to the till and ask for the item to be placed on a "customer view" then at collection they'll let you have a look, help you figure out if it's suitable let you read the instruction manual etc before you pay for the item. I don't think many people mind looking through the catalogue as its a catalogue store. It's no different to running round a toy shop looking for a certain action figure. It's now offering a 30 day money back guarantee, and anything that's excluded will have internal memory or be sensitve software. You'll find that most managers will take these things back if they are totally sealed. But it's at their discretion. I really feel for you though, try a different argos sounds like your local store's staff aren't up to scratch. My staff are! |
