Advantages: Quick reliable service

Disadvantages: some items may not appear as they seem sometimes

I thinks it's safe to say you can just about anything and everything from Argos, from toy's to electrical's Argos has it all in their big book. Argos was first founded in 1973 and is part of the home retail group along with Homebase. Since then it has opened ove 700 stores across the UK and Ireland.

I found Argos very handy as they had just opened as new store in my town at the time of me moving into my own home, so i purchased a lot of Homeware items from there. I find Argos caters for every type of budget, and with most major items they stock, you can buy the cheap no frills sort or go for something a little more expensive and good quality.
Being on a budget at the time i opted for the cheaper version of things just to get me going, i think i got a toaster, kettle and sandwich maker set for £20.00, and a iron for about £9.00.

Argos bring out a new catologe every 3-4 months, and each time they are adding new items, depending on the season.
With Argos stocking so many different items, they don't have it all on display therefore not always can you look before you buy, on some occasions i have found i have brought something, got it home and it's nothing like what it is in the picture, a lot of the times a lot smaller or a different color, so when ordering always look at the measurements, and read the description fully- i now have learnt from my mistakes.

The whole process of ordering from Argos is pretty simple and there are a number of ways of doing so, if you go in store you write down the number of the item you wish to buy, go over to the tills or self check out station, pay for your item, and you will then be given a order number, the wait is around 5 minutes, your number is then shouted and you go to the collection point to pick up your item. The staff then check the item over with you, stamp your ticket and your done- be remember to keep your reciept in case you need to return it.

Argos also offer a online ordering system where you can chose and pay for goods online with your credit card, they then will either deliver for a small charge or you can go and collect from your chosen store- this saves the hassle of standing around paying, waiting etc.
For bigger items such as sofa's, beds, cookers etc, there is a delay, of normally 2+ weeks, because they have to come from there main warehouse and are delivered straight to your door.

Apart from selling sofa's, toy's games etc, Argos offer you insurance on all items you purchase, of course you have to buy the insurance, but it covers you for up to 3 years and if your item breaks in this time they will replace it, or if they have discontinued that certain item they will find something similar or refund your money.

I upto now have never had any real problems with buying from Argos, and it's always handy my my kettle breaks down or i need a birthday presant for someone i can look through the catologe and chose something, reserve it and nip in and pick it up, my Nan always gets me Argos vouchers for christmas and i find them handy to use in the after Christmas sales.

Summary: Argos- everything you need under one roof
