Advantages: very useful if you check and reserve before you queue
Disadvantages: can get very busy, hot and smelly...too many people in one place
This time of the year I dread that Christmas rush. Everyone goes shopping and the queues are massive.
Last year I discovered a few shops and learned a few lessons. I decided this year to get a lot of the stocking fillers from Boots due t the 3 for 2 offer but my main gifts from Argos.
The Argos catalogue is easy to use can be used as a yardstick for pricing other places as they always tend to be cheaper. The best thing about Argos is that they sell pretty much anything and everything. A few times I have been sat at home thinking about what to buy a mate or my partner for birthdays / anniversaries / Christmas etc and I always get the catalogue out to have a look.
They update their range twice a year so the catalogue is current e.g. in summer they will have a large outdoor section including holiday essentials, gardening items and camping materials. In the winter the catalogue contains Christmas presents, decorations and seasonal goods for the winter.
I went into Argos last year to find that the queues were right out of the door. I went over to a catalogue point and typed in the camera I wanted - it was on offer at half price - what a bargain! I typed it into the machine to see that they had 5 in stock. I was very pleased so wrote it on the order form; I carried on looking through the catalogue at the other items I required. I then went to queue up. Whilst in the queue however those 5 cameras had sold out and I had to go to the Argos around the corner they had also sold out. I was quite gutted at this and pledged to check and reserve in future to save the disappointment.
This year I went online the night before my shopping trip and ordered everything I needed I then went in and realised that the queues were as bad BUT I had the reservation numbers to hand and could use the electronic kiosk. This was very easy to use and the only waiting I had to endure was waiting for my item and then waiting to collect my free gift card because I had spend over £100.
I am a big fan of Argos now due to the way they have made shopping that much easier.
Summary: If you use the check and reserve before you go Argos is a brilliant place to shop.
