Advantages: lots of stock, faster checkout system

Disadvantages: None

My favourite thing about Argos is how they have such a wide range of stock - there's literally something for everyone! You can go in at 9am one morning and come out at 5pm with your whole year's birthday and Christmas presents sorted!
Despite recently hearing a comedian tear into Argos, I quite like it; it's certainly not as bad as it used to be. Since the computerised system came into place there's a much shorter wait for your item, and it's not so confusing as to which collection point you have to wait at. Prices are often cheaper than in the catalogue too, probably 5/10 times in my experience, which is always a nice surprise.
One of the features I really like is how you can check stock and reserve items online - now that's clever, and saves a lot of heartache at the other end. You can also purchase items online, with delivery at around £5 and taking (on average) 2 days. For me, I always go to the store, but this is a handy option for those who can't.
Finally, customer service is fantastic. Only this weekend, my friends was given a replacement on an item she had lost the receipt for; not many places would do that these days.

Summary: A one stop shop for all your gifts

I do like their refund policy.

Short and to the point. I loved Bill Bailey's description of the in-store catalogue. "The laminated book of tears - waterproofed against all those people sobbing 'so many beautiful things and I can never have them all!'"
