Advantages: Easy if you know what you want
Disadvantages: ...tends to get crowded at weekends
I used to think Argos was really naff. Even though I did use it pccasionally...usually for small electrical items, like kettles - as it's always been one of the cheapest places in town for things like that. But these days, I keep the catalogue in the magazine rack and use it all the time. Whenever we're planning to buy something, it's one of the first places we check. The range of goods available is growing all the time. Prices are very good compared to other outlets - and often have a sizable reduction during sales. The new catalogue incorporates a few order forms - so you can prepare that before you go, you can also check by phone or in store to see if they have what you want in stock. Interest free credit is available on larger items together with free delivery - and delivery is very cheap even if you don't qualify for free. Returns are dealt with quickly without any hassle - just instant replacement. All in all - if you can't be bothered with the whole 'shopping experience' and you know exactly what you want, Argos is cheap, fast and reliable.

- 13/09/00 With the little machines in-store and the phone reservation service they have indeed addressed one of the major annoyances about their service - finding out at the last minute that goods were out-of-stock. Now they need to do something about the delays in the collection of goods once customers have paid for them. Until they do, I will continue to find shopping at Argos a tedious experience. |
