Advantages: keen prices

Disadvantages: order, pay, wait...wait...wait

Does anybody feel like me about Argos stores? When I go shopping I like to select what I want, pay for it, take it home. End of Story. What annoys me about Argos is, I can't do that. First you look through the catalogue - write your order out - take it to the till - pay - and wait....and wait.
The other day it was my wife's birthday, she wanted an exercise bike. She'd seen one in Argos. Ohhh. But off we trooped on a midweek into a local store. Filled out the form, took it to the till, paid. Fine - they give you a number, just like at the delicatessen counter in a supermarket. Your number comes up on the screen - great we're ready. We surge forward ready to collect our goods - only a 10 minute wait. Not much sign at the collection counter of a rather large box weighing around 20lb. We enquire. 'Oh your number always comes up before your item is ready to make sure you are here when it arrives'. So we wait some more. Finally we see it arrive on the shelf - pick it up and go - vowing not to shop that way again...till next time.
You might gather, Argos is not my favourite way to shop. I know the prices are pretty keen, but, ...well have you ever tried to shop on a busy Saturday or - heaven forbid - around Christmas time?

If you like the store but don't like the wait, have you ever tried their telephone ordering service or internet ordering service? That way you get your stuff delivered to your door for £3.95, no heavy lifting & no waiting around either!

Oh yes me too - I hate the wait. Not only that but if your goods are faulty, then you have to queue for another hour to change it or get a refund.

You're right of course. Our's is terrible and everyone else's goods ALWAYS come down before mine - even if they put their ticket in after!
