What's the point? (Argos)

Advantages: Good range of useful and luxury household items, get to pre-plan what you want to buy (take a catalogue home), no in-store cramped rushes, novel idea

Disadvantages: It'd be faster just popping stuff in your basket yourself, form filling's laborious and so is waiting for stuff to get collected

Argos and Index may both be great catalogue shop stores, and Argos the possible of pioneer of it all, but what's the point? It was just a pointless shopping gimmick to attract customers with a different shopping experience.
I suppose there is an advantage in the fact that you don't have to rush around the store packing stuff into a dingy little basket within a rush of other people, and Argos, like Index is a specialist home products shop - so it's valid for those two reasons.
But it's so drab having to fill out an order form no matter how long it takes, and to save yourself dissapointment you can either use the order checker machine to find if what you request is in-stock without getting sad when you cash in your goods. It'd be easier just to see if the product was just on the shelf. Atleast for them this also alleviates shoplifting.
Waiting for your products aren't badly timed either, but really it'd be faster just stashing stuff into a basket, paying and going home.
Argos are a good store, you can take their catalogues home and pre-plan what you want to buy and even home shop, and although there is a plus to their commerce style, there's also a negativity; but they both seem to cancel eachother out somewhat and Argos is still a reliable household name for novel catalogue shopping, for many good household items and so forth. Give it a go atleast!
