Advantages: Great prices, friendly service.

Disadvantages: Quality of own products can still be better.

Following my PERSONAL supermarket experiment, I have judged Asda as the best supermarket overall. Price was the main factor but quality could not be compromised.
Well done Asda, keep it up.

I will be the first to admit that until recently I was quite snobby about ASDA (i.e. the quality of their products, service etc).
I am happy to report that I have now been converted and I now shop weekly at ASDA.
The quality of their own brand products has improved so much over the past couple of years and yet they still manage to keep the prices incredibly low.
It seems like every single supermarket thinks that their prices are best but I would honestly say that ASDA have excellent prices without comprimising quality.
Anyone can make their prices cheap but usually the quality goes down too and that isn't the idea.
Things can surely only improve now too with the recent takeover of american giant Wal Mart (I've been to the one in bristol and it really is like nothing you've seen before).
Hats off to ASDA, they're doing a great job and they look to be carrying on with the current trend of driving prices down.
If you've been looking down your nose and going to sainsbury's (like I used to) then give ASDA a try this weekend and see how much they have improved.
