Advantages: Large range

Disadvantages: None

I am a huge fan of ASDA and I try to do as much of my shopping there as possible. I find that I get nearly double the amount at Asda than I would at any other store and they have a very wide range as well.

Here are a few points about ASDA that makes it in my opinion the best supermarket around.

Stores:

With stores nation-wide you can almost guarantee that there will be an ASDA store some where in your area.

Staff:

I tend to visit the ASDA store in Washington, although this store is not one of the biggest around I still manage to get all the items I require. When you arrive at the store there will be a lady or gentleman who will briefly welcome you to ASDA. He will tell you about the best offers available on that day and offer his assistance if needed. The rest of the staff can't be faulted they are very friendly, especially the checkout operators who are quick and efficient.

Offers:

ASDA is full of offers. While browsing the store you will see a lot of buy one get one free offers and half price. A lot of the same products are always on offer so if you try something one week at half price and love it, it will surely be on a different offer a few weeks later.

ASDA Specials:

ASDA has a lot of its own ranges available in store, for example:

ASDA:

This range is cheap and very tasty; you can purchase Beans, Soups, Tinned vegetables and many more from the ASDA range the prices range from 30 pence.

Smart price:

This is an even cheaper value range from ASDA, I must admit I do purchase the frozen smart price chicken breasts as they are excellent value at £1.20 for 4. I couldn't fault them. On the other hand they are practically the only smart price items that I buy. In my opinion items such as the Beans, Meatballs and Casseroles don't have much taste at all. Smart price items can range from 8 pence.

Kids:

ASDA have a great, kids range ideal for school lunchboxes. The kid's products range from Fruit (the bananas and Apples are smaller for little hands) to Cheese, Milkshakes, Juices and Yoghurts. My daughter loves them and they are very tasty. The kid's range is often on offer making the prices fair.

Extra Special:

The ASDA extra special range is made up of better quality ingredients I especially like the share size extra special crisps, they have tons of flavour and are very crunchy, they are priced at 98 pence.

Fresh:

Most ASDA stores have now opened a fresh food section where you can buy fresh fish and cheese. The staff can now make a fresh pizza up for you at your request.

George:

George is ASDA'S clothing range, which in my opinion is excellent. George has a wide range of woman's clothes, underwear and nightwear as well as shoes. There is also a good range of men's clothing and children's clothing. The clothes are very good quality and very reasonably priced too. You can also buy excellent homewares and jewellery.

Tickled Pink:

For over 12 years now ASDA has raised 20 million to support 2 charities Breast Cancer Care and the Breast Cancer Campaign. ASDA sells items such as T-shirts, Underwear, Slippers, PJs and Wellies as part of the Tickled Pink range. The Items are fun and it is always an added bonus to know that by buying one of these items you are helping to donate to one of these charities.

ASDA Magazine:

ASDA has a free monthly magazine that is full of information about offers, products and recipe ideas. There are also competitions and advertisements on new products as well as money off coupons.

Carrier bags:

Over the last few weeks more and more shops are starting to charge a fee for carriers bags. So far ASDA are still offering the carrier bags for free, I think this is only right considering a monthly shop can usually come to around £100 pounds depending on family size. After spending so much money I think it is unfair to charge for bags.

You can also do your full shopping on line at www.asda.com. It only takes minutes to sign up. I have ordered many of times online now and I have been very impressed. After placing my order the delivery usually took place the following day, this takes the entire hassle away from waiting in queues, the only downside is you don't get to see your fresh produce before you buy. ASDA are very fair if they do not have a required item in stock for example if you ordered smart price fish fingers at 24 pence and they are not in stock, they will send you out a more expensive brand such as Birdseye for no extra cost

Summary: Great store, great prices
