Advantages: cheap fruit and veg
Disadvantages: small stores
Aldi is a chain of supermarkets selling discounted food stuff and other items. Stores tend to be small in terms of Supermarkets and you don't get the product range that you would get in Tescos or Sainsburys.
Stores are usually open til 8pm on a weeknight and usual opening times on a Sat and Sun. In this respect Aldi can't compete with Tesco and Asda who can open 24 hours a day.
Aldi are doing a lot at the minute to promote their good value fruit and veg. At the minute they have a variety of fruit and veg for sale at just 29p which is great. It does raise the question though where does it come from and are the farmers being exploited?
Aldi have adopted the 'celebrity' approach and adverts are now far more polished with a celebrity fronting them. This must be costing the company a lot of money but they must see some worth in it. Something is certainly working as there isn't as much of a stigma attached to shopping there.
I like shoping at Aldi because the isles are wide and there isn't masses to choose from or trawl through. I often go in after I've had a flyer through the post with the special offers on.
It isn't the best supermarket experience but they do have some good discounted products. Worth a look but for the weekly shop stick to the big boys.
Summary: not the best supermarket experience
