Advantages: Really good prices
Disadvantages: Nothing really special
We do our regular monthly shop in Asda. We have been doing this for about five years. This doesn't mean that we don't shop anywhere else, we do a lot, but Asda is our most frequented shop because it is close to where we live and although Asda is not the absolute cheapest supermarket, the prices are quite good for the quality.
The Asda Supermarkets are to be found in every major town in the country. Some of their stores - like the one at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol are Wal-Mart Hypermarkets. I go there sometimes and the offers are announced over the public address system. We have two locally at Wolverhampton and Darlaston. They all have good free car parking. Sometimes you have to pay for parking and reclaim it when you pay for your shopping.
I find that there is always an extensive fruit and vegetable section I have found that the quality and range is quite satisfactory. They very often have special offers and I have bought packs of eight small oranges for 39p, packs of 500gm new potatoes for 50p, packs of 2 avocados for 39p to name but a few bargains.
At the moment Asda are running a campaign where hundreds of items are on sale for £1.00 each. I have recently bought genuine bargains in this campaign for examples Heinz Top Down Squeezy Tomato Ketchup 460gm, McVities cake bars, Persil washing up liquid. So this campaign is not just cheap brands, it is my regular brands.
I like the George clothing range in Asda. I have bought trousers and jackets for work at £5.00 and £12.00 respectively which are hard wearing and washable. My mum has bought leather court shoes for £12.00. Larger stores carry a really good range of clothes and shoes. We have bought armfuls of delightful baby clothes for my sister's gorgeous babies.
All in all Asda is a good "bread and butter" store, all your basic essentials at a reasonable price.
Summary: All your basic essentials at a reasonable price.
