Advantages: Value, variety, quality

Disadvantages: Staff can be a bit unfriendly and give you plastic bags very grudgingly

I have absolutely no loyalty when it comes to supermarkets, whichever has the best offers, the cheapest items and the biggest variety is the one I will shop in. I've found that for me, Asda pretty much always ticks all of these boxes. It may not offer a points reward scheme, but thats because it doesn't need to, I've shopped around and always come back to Asda simply because with or without a loyalty scheme it always has the best offers, the widest range of variety and good quality products. It also has the advantage that I can do a sneaky clothes shop at the same time!

Asda sells pretty much everything, it's what we expect from our supermarkets today, I can buy clothes, food drink, entertainment products, homewares, books, stationery and magazines under one roof, but I can also do that at Tesco, the difference is that I always find Asda have a good choice of products to choose from from their smart price range right through to their luxury range - 'extra special', and branded products.

They have a wide range of basic range products - their smart price range, and whilst my husband wont let me buy either meat or toilet roll from this range everything else I've tried has been absolutely fine and when it's so much cheaper than even their standard Asda range why would I pay more?

Asda introduced a policy about 1 year ago that all of their own brand products will contain no artificial colours or flavourings, I think this is a great initiative because although I don't have kids, there has been loads in the news about artificial ingredients and the effect they have on children. I also do like to look at the ingredients list and see that in theory I could make the product at home, so this pulls me towards Asda products, often at the expense of better known brands.

As much as I think that the offers are great, the one area I really feel that Asda falls down on is it's staff. In fairness I usually do go to Asda around 10.30pm so it's fairly short staffed at the point - just a skeleton staff, however since there has been a big push not to use plastic carrier bags as much, on the odd occasion I forget my 'bags for life' (a very short life that is) I have been given plastic bags so grudgingly I wondered if the staff had to pay for the bags themselves. Don't get me wrong I'm all for cutting down on plastic, I'm also forgetful especially that late at night!

I don't feel you can beat Asda for value, variety and quality. Many of their products received better reviews that the 'leading brand' product in independant tests which provides reassurance that Asda take quality seriously. I know people favour different supermarkets for different reasons, but Asda is the supermarket I always come back to, no matter which other ones I try.

Summary: Everything I would want in a supermarket.
