Advantages: Cheap food!
Disadvantages: Food is of an awful quality, store is dirty!
Ever experienced a dirty supermarket, well ASDA in my opinion gets the number 1 award for a filthy store. I know people tell me that items are packaged and wrapped but to me it seems that many Asda stores are filthy! When entering my local branch in Farnborough, Hampshire, I instantly notice the thick dirty layer on the tiled floor, not exactly the type of greeting you want when entering a supermarket and it isnt good for health and safety standards either. The next thing that greets me is the layer of dirt and dust along many of the shelves. Recently ASDA were pulled up by Watchdog on BBC 1 and were asked to explain why a customer managed to find a trail of ants along the baby food aisle. Investigators looked into the problem and found a large hole in the floor where the ants were streaming through! Have you ever noticed how dirty the conveyer belts are in ASDA, they are never cleaned leading to yet more health problems. A shocking moment I saw in my local branch was where a shelf stacker dropped a packet of jelly underneath the shelf and then replaced it back on. Do any people at ASDA know of health and safety? Perhaps the problem lies with ASDA stores themselves. The superstores seem to be located in a large warehouse, not ideal for keeping food and drink in. Compare this to other supermarkets such as Sainsburys and Tesco, both are brick built and are kept mostly spick and span. Does ASDA really stand for: A - A S - Shockingly D - Dirty A - Asda Well, judge for yourself, but always keep in mind what you are buying from the store, maybe loose apples...have they been dropped on the floor? Possibly!

- 24/03/01 I do not agree with this comment at all. I find that my local asda stores, in Bexleyheath, Swanley and Greenhithe all the be very clean. The one in Greenhithe which opened a few months ago is my favourite. All the staff are very helpful and they also raise a large anount of money for different charrities. With regarde to food being dropped on the floor, apples were mentioned, you could tell, if it was bruised, I wouldn't choose it, and I always wash my fruit anyway, as you can never tell how many other peoples hancs have touched it already. As my Mum always said, if you don't like the shop, go somewhere else! |
