Advantages: Lower Prices, Buy one get one free offers, Same choice of brands
Disadvantages: Home brands not the as good as Asda's
My wife and I like to shop at Asda's, but over the last four to five weeks, we have found that the shopping bill has gone up by £7 for the same items. To see why, we went to Asda,s last we and bought a number of items that we buy on a regular basis. This week we went to Morrisons and bought the same identical items and compared the total price. The price difference was £4.60 on a £60 shopping bill. The reason for this, is due to Morrisons buy one get one free, Asda have a buy two get the third one free. The price per item is within approx. 6-7 pence, but with Morrisons two for one price, it knocks the price down even futher. When I asked the local Asda manager, he said that the stores were going through big changes and with the Wallmart buying power, you should see more offers come up in the late summer. He also informed me that they would rather give a lower price per item than buy one get one free. The choice is yours, but I would just like to say that Morrisons do a buy one get one free and they can still match the item prices of Asda's. So I would suggest, give Morrisons a go and see the difference in prices.
