Advantages: cheap, good quality, friendly

Disadvantages: some stores have better ranges than others

I've been shopping at Asdas for several months now and have found it to be the best supermarket around.

When I used to live with my parents, I'd pop into my local Asdas every now and then, in particular, to look at the clothes. 'George' is the range of clothes available at Asda and I've had some fantastic items both in the sale and at normal prices. It's not as old fashioned as some people think, if you really hunt, you can find some trendy things. Recently, I've noticed that the range has changed slightly, but you can still pick up some funky tops at very reasonable prices. My favourite thing about the clothes is that some of them are made out of really nice material, very soft, easy to wash-and no ironing!

Since I moved away from my parents, I had to start the responsibility of shopping every week. At first I'd go to Safeway and Sainsbury's, but being on a tight budget I was spending a fortune. I have now been going to my local Asda for a few months and have always found it to be a friendly store and well within my budget.

The food is excellent, prices which beat the other stores hands down and very high quality 'cheap' food. The cheap range of Asda food is Asda Smartprice (used to be Farm Stores), some products are better quality than others, but generally they are worth buying to try out, I've never had anything awful, and to be honest they taste as good as expensive ranges.

My only complaint is that my local store has a low quality range of fruit and veg compared to the store near my parents. The same applies to the fish section, in my local Asda, the fish range is very limited.

Finally the best thing about my local Asda is that every night they have 'Whoops' items. These are items reduced for quick sale. I always shop in the evenings to get bargains from the 'whoops'- eg bread for 20p, bags of salad - 35p, pack of six rolls 10p. Usually I freeze the
bread and rolls if they have to be eaten soon. The salad usually lasts slightly longer than the eat by date recommends.

On the other hand though, my mum visits her local store in the evenings looking for 'whoops' items and rarely finds them. I think the stores vary from town to town, but on average you get a cheaper, friendlier shop at Asda than any other supermarket.

Good Op. I was in Asda's actually last nite. Its great that our store is open 24/7. I went there yesterday onlt to find the entertainment section to be totally revamped! It looked great and they have this new technology where u can scan the barcode of the album you want to listen to and then you can play it. :) Mike.
