Advantages: EVERYTHING UNDER ONE ROOF

Disadvantages: BAD FOR THE WALLET!!!

Today I visited the newly revamped Asda store near Bristol. This store has now become an Asda Wal*Mart store (THE FIRST IT THE UK not fully open until 24-7-00) and boy what a transformation if this is what the Americans have been treated to over the years then it just goes to show how behind the times we are here in the UK.

The place is bright and airy and very very big (it was always a big store, but it has now been extended even more) the staff use those new scooters to get about the store.

Although there is still about 10% of the store still to open fully the range of goods that are on sale is phenomenal, DIY goods, ELECTRICAL goods, SPORTS EQUIPMENT from weighttraing benches to bikes, PRAMS, COMPUTER goods etc the list goes on. Oh of course they do also sell food and clothes, which include many designer names. This is truly a ONE STOP SHOP.

Places like the fresh meat, fish & bakery were all very smart and swish and the staff were all clean and tidy.

There is plenty of staff and it seems they are following in B&Q’S footsteps and employing the more mature shop staff or team members.

On prices there seems to be little difference compared to the competition but time will tell in the long term it may benefit everybody in the area in some way or another but in some cases it may have an adverse affect on the smaller shop.

So TESCO & SAINSBURYS watch out the yanks are coming.

So from the 24-7-2000 this store will be fully open and is located just off the M5, junction 17 near CRIBBS CAUSEWAY, BRISTOL. So if you are passing by on you’re to Cornwall or Devon and you want to take a break from the traffic jam!! Stop and have a look.

Ps I do not work for Asda and I am not American!!!

You know Wal-mart in America is diabolical. They employee non-english speaking Hispanic staff on the minimum wage, they hardly sell any food (Americans always eat out), its more of a cheap and nasty department store.

I went to the largest Wal Mart in America which is in Kissimme Florida. If that is their showcase store then I dread to think what the rest of them are like.

Its good they made a better effort in the UK.

I'm REALLY envious!! I wish we had one near us like that.

In fact there's an Asda just down my road, but it's not been taken over by Walmart (yet, I hope).

Great prices at Asda, and good offers and great customer services.

I hop Sainsbury's go down .............. FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

(i really mean that!)

we have an Asda store within one mile of where we live I only wish that Walmart would revamp it into one of their super stores. Even now they outshine Tesco and the like
