Advantages: Wide range of goods...
Disadvantages: ...at the cost of a narrower range of food
Xmillion feels well qualified to voice an opinion on the new rebadged Asda Walmart supercentre at Cribbs Causeway, Brisol as he has shopped there for, well, ages. (He can in fact remember the time when it was Carrefour, when it was supposed to be a herald of the French invasion.) Over the past months there has been a certain amount of disruption as the store has been enlarged (but not by that much) and things have been moved around. Xmillion always hates it when supermarkets do this as it takes him weeks to find where they've hidden the sugar this time. Certain advantages and disadvantages have become apparent during this time which have now become concrete since the official launch of new "Asda-Walmart" Although the new store has expanded the range of goods it sells, this has partly been achieved by reducing the range of food on sale. The frozen food section in particular seems to be only half the size it was pre-Walmart, and a number of lines seem to have disappeared to make way for "exotic" American and European lines. For goodness sake, this is a store the size of a ****** aircraft hanger that doesn't stock chocolate rich tea biscuits! The local Somerfield stocks these in a shop the size of the average living room! (Xmillion apologises for getting a little overwrought but he is very fond of chocolate rich tea biscuits.) Xmillion would not like to give the impression that he doesn't like Asda. On the contrary, he is very fond of its lack of pretension and good prices. (He would recommend their After Dinner ground coffee to anyone who prefers their coffee to actually taste of something.)But he thinks that Asda-Walmart has stopped being a supermarket and become something else. It is not quite the place to do the weekly shop and he may well go to Asda Bedminster instead.
