Advantages: Good product range
Disadvantages: It's a supermarket
Without a doubt my favorite supermarket. It stocks all the brands I like and most of the own brand goods are just excellent. I wouldn’t get my monthly shopping anywhere else if I had a choice. I’m one of those trolley monsters, God help the person who cuts me up or puts the trolley across the isle in my way, I’m normally a very gentle person but I loathe food shopping. Asda does seem to be one of the better stores though, I find the isles are wide enough even for a trolley jam and everything is where I expect it to be. Even though the layout of different stores does change it’s been my experience that not by much and I can still always find what I want. Definitely takes the edge off of my temper somewhat! I like the clothing range too and have bought some for myself and my daughter. We also buy electrical goods from time to time if a bargain item we need appears and try to pick out a book or two from the budget section for our daughters growing library. The staff seem to be very helpful and friendly and although there is more often than not large queues they do move swiftly. I do like the way the shelves are regularly restocked too. The deli counters and salad bars are very nice, and the new curry section (at least in what used to be my local store) has some very nice meals indeed. A huge plus is that it stocks a large variety of the Hipp foods I give Thai so I can get most of her meals in one go. One of the best things for me though and one of my main reasons for shopping here is the salad, yep I’m also one of those who squeezes the tomato to find a nice firm one and feels the cucumber and peppers for ripe ones! I drive my poor husband to despair but I’m very annoyingly particular about my fruit and veg and I find for the most part (like any store it has off days) that it’s always fresh and nice at reasonable prices. The 24 hour policy of most stores is a great idea too, but I think
that a lot of the supermarkets are doing that now. And as soon as we’re done poof I’m back to my old self again! Hence why we only go once a month, and only to Asda.
