The ASDA store in my town is part of a new conurbation outside the main town. This makes it a pain to get to but there are a numbers of busses and a huge car park to cater for it's non-local customers. This seems to be caught between the 'full-price large supermarkets' like Tesco and Sainsbury and the smaller ... Read the complete review

If anyone hasn't seen the George collection of clothes at ASDA then get down there now as you're missing out! We have always shopped at ASDA anyway, but the clothes are just gorgeous, especially for younger children and babies. Always good quality, some clothes of my sons will easily do another child, the colours are ... Read the complete review

Asda are changing. For several years now, their always large and imposing stores have been expanding to look like aircraft hangers, with high bare ceilings and an endless succession of thickly stacked shelves. Now owned by US discount kings WalMart, they are increasingly dragging themselves down towards the lowest common denominator of low low ... Read the complete review

I have been really impressed with Asda compared to other leading stores . With their roll backs on prices they are one the the cheapest stores around yet maintaning their quality . The stores ttend to be large and well stocked with almost every brand name avaliable . Asda's George clothing range is also fantastic . I simply love ... Read the complete review

Today I visited the newly revamped Asda store near Bristol. This store has now become an Asda Wal*Mart store (THE FIRST IT THE UK not fully open until 24-7-00) and boy what a transformation if this is what the Americans have been treated to over the years then it just goes to show how behind the times we are here in the UK. ... I live very close to a sainsburys , but for a big shop id much rather travel to Asda even though my nearest one is about 13 miles away. Asda is cheaper than Sainsburys,Do a great range of clothes called George which are trendy and not too expensive, well spaced out , good choice of products need i go on! the trouble with asda is in our local asda they are always moving the stuff around. One or two weeks you go in there and you get use to the way the layout is and remember everything so you plan you shopping list then you go again and it is all moved around so you have to spend a long time trying to find the food you are looking for ... ASDA is the best supermarket of the lot in my opinion. This is because of many reasons. Firstly, ASDA always have loads of great special offers, such as buy one, get one free, 3 for the price of 2, and "3 items for £3", and their prices are laways very low anyway, with their policy of permanently low prices and "rollback". ... UPDATED OPINION; 3/01/2001 Addendum 2) - addendum 1) is at the end of this opinion . . . The latest breaking news is that, here in Scotland, our first Wall-Mart is to be in Livingston, which I am delighted to say is not too far from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. I read some time ago now, that the Asda store in ... Read the complete review

In my opinion Asda provides the most enjoyable shopping experience out of the major supermarkets. The in store bakery is very good, and I think Asda's bread is better than most supermarkets. They also have a very good large selection of food, including fresh fruit and vegetables, and have departments, such as clothing, music and videos. ... Read the complete review

My local Asda (Minworth West Midlands) is currently undergoing massive changes. I am led to believe that these are as a result of the recent Walmart take-over. Now I have nothing against Walmart as I was very impressed with their stores when I visited the States a few years ago. However Asda is definitely changing for the worse. They have ... The best thing that I like about ASDA hypermarket situated at Esleigh, Southampton is that it doesn't close! I can shop whenever I like, day or night. The price of the daily groceries are very competitive. I can usually find very good deals there such as Buy One Get One Free and reduced items. Although there are reduced due to the 'display ... I have to say that the Asda near me is not good! The problem is I live in a new area and there are lots of new houses being built. Asda is the nearest supermarket and is always absolutely full and it is open 24hrs! If you go and do you shopping very late in the evening there is nothing left and this is also the case on a Sunday. ... Read the complete review

I have been shopping at Asda now for many years and although I do visit other supermarkets too this is where I get my main weekly shop. The quality and range of goods is excellent. I mostly buy Asda's own range products as the price and quality is good. They also have a basic no frills range called Farmstores, this range is quite extensive ... Read the complete review

Although I no longer shop at an Asda store, primarily due to the fact that having moved house, the nearest one is a good half an hour in a car away, I am still more than willing to recommend the Asda brand and store to anyone who is lucky enough to live near enough to one to make it worthwhile shopping there. There are always some good offers ... Read the complete review

The way Asda arranges its products always give me the impression that their store is very spacious. It will never be overcrowded with trolleys. I mean this is good. It is not that they don't have many choices but their stores are always located in a big and wide compound and most importantly with lots of free parking lots. So far i have not ... I adore their clothes for kids at Asda, the clothing is very fashoinable, very reasonable and very hard wearing, some items I would even put on a par with the quality of Next childrenswear! I wouldnt shop for clothes for myself at Asda because I do find them overpriced and sometimes dreary which is in stark contrast to the childrenswear. ... Read the complete review

Our local Asda store in Bristol has now been re-named Asda Walmart (as we all know the american giants have taken over) I went the this store yesterday which is HUGE ! Asda hit the headlines last year when they announced that they would be taken over by US giant WalMart. This was declared as a victory for the consumer as WalMart's is renowned for aggressive pricing policies. So where do Asda find themselves now, many months down the line? ASDA fired the first shots in the great supermarket war, and are still winning the battle (if you only count the big UK-based multiples). There prices are generally good, but Safeway have been running tactical promotions, where they absolutely slash the prices on certain items for 7 days. Recent examples are: concentrated washing liquid ... Read the complete review
