Ding dong, Avon calling.

I think that there must be an Avon rep on every street, in the country, if not the universe.

The good thing though is that it means that if you want something chances are that someone that you know is either a rep or they know someone who is.

-----Description-----

So what is Avon then? Avon is technically a catalogue company. At least once every month a book drops through your door filled with products that you can purchase. From beauty products, hair products to gifts and jewellery, and there is also a section for men too, even though it does say a few places that advertise Avon that it is a company for woman.

-----How does it work?-----

Once you have had a book dropped off to your home, or you get one from an Avon rep that may be a friend etc, then you can start to have a look. I always find that there's always something that I managed to buy even if I don't need it. You are given an order form with the book too, so that if you do require anything it is easy to read when they are dispatching the order. Your Avon rep will add a date for collection of the book too on the order form so you know how long you have to place it. What I then usually do is put the book outside the door if I know that I am not going to be in so that they still get the order, or if I am in then I will keep it in the house, but that means they have to knock to get it back, not that I mind. The order is then taken away by your rep and sent to Avon to process, normally over the internet. After a few weeks the order turns up with your rep and they have to then sort out all those orders, and I tell you something, I definitely don't envy then having to do that! A few days later, ding dong, and the order is with you. The good thing is that you don't have to pay for the order until you receive it.

-----Quality of products-----

Avon's quality for their products are second to none. Their jewellery is always beautiful looking and really nicely crafted. The only thing that I find could be better would be that some of their jewellery is just silver plated and they can be a little expensive just for something that is plated, but apart from that I have no problems with the quality.

-----Prices-----

A lot of Avon's prices are really very reasonable, especially the items like their bubble bath; it's normally about £2.50. Sometimes you will find that something can be cheaper in a few books later, but as you know that's just the way it goes with everything, I always find that if I wait to see if they are going to come down in price, they always discontinue them or have no stock at all.


-----Online-----

You can also order Avon on line if you don't have a rep in your area; you can do this through www.avon.com the only problem is that you have to pay a delivery charge for the items that you want. I think that this is really unreasonable, as their delivery drivers will be dropping off orders to the reps, so if you are in the same area, why would they have to charge?

-----Advantages-----

Avon always has really great offers on, the best one so far that I have come across was the legendary pound (£) sale. There is a certain list of items that you Avon rep can order and these are all reduced to £1 each. I have managed to get a lot of great stuff from this. It's really good around Christmas as you can get small things to add as extras to presents. Last year I managed to get some bubble bath, body scrub, body butter and some hand cream too.

You can also order back a book, so if you have seen a product in one book but didn't order it at that time, and it is in the new book dearer then you can place an order from the previous book to save your self money.

If they have run out of a specific product that you have ordered then they may send you something similar in its place, if you don't want this however then you can give it back to your rep and they can send it back.

-----Disadvantages-----

The only disadvantage that I can find is that you cant see any products before you order, so you don't know what a perfume is going to smell like, or what a piece of jewellery will look like 'in the flesh'. so what I tend to do is try and have a look at it if a friend is ordering it so that I can see for my self before I order, again remember though that they can be sent back I they are not any good.

-----Returns-----

As I have already mentioned you can send back anything that you are not happy with, and you can either have a refund or you can have a credit that will come off of your next bill. There is however a certain amount of time that you have to return the item to qualify for a refund or credit, I am not entirely sure what this is so I would advise to speak to your Avon rep with regards this.

-----Summary-----

I love Avon and always spend a fortune on it, and I will continue to use it as long as it exists. Go on give it a try, you'll love it.
