Advantages: Nail polish is long lasting, customer service good
Disadvantages: Not worth the money when it comes to general cosmetics
I decided to spend a little extra on make-up so that it would last longer and generally be of better quality. Hearing only good things about Avon, I decided to buy two different kinds of foundation (Personal Match Liquid Foundation and something else) but it was a massive mistake. The colour was right but the consistency was too thin and made my skin go flakey. I have generally good skin and have never had a problem in this way before. About one year later, after being cajoled by my mother into trying their foundation once more, the same thing happened! This time with the Calming Effects Skin Revival foundation. I also tried my mum's mascara, with permission of course, and found it made for the lumpiest lashes I've ever seen. It looked ridiculous and was unpleasant to apply.
It is such a shame because our local representative is lovely, but I have rarely had a good experience with Avon products. Their nailpolish is of a decent standard but I don't find it to be different to many other polishes you can get slightly cheaper. All in all I would say to steer clear of Avon foundations, mascara and concealers but give the go ahead for nail cosmetics and soaps etc. I know a lot of people who actually have had great experiences with these products though, so it may be a case of trying out products thoroughly to see how your skin reacts to them before purchasing.
Summary: steer clear of foundations, mascara and concealers but nail varnish and soaps are okay
