B&QNewest Review: ... time comes when you finish or find out you're missing a bit, and that's when you head for B&Q! B&Q is without a doubt the best DIY superstore in Britain. The only other store I can think of off the top of my head that comes close is maybe Homebase. Whether you need a single screw, a bathtub or even a potting plant then B&Q will see you right. It's usually small things I buy from ... more |

Let's face it, everyone like to dabble a bit in DIY at times. We may not always be successful but we'll always still crack on through the sweat, swear words and depressing problems. Then the time comes when you finish or find out you're missing a bit, and that's when you head for B&Q! B&Q is without a doubt the best DIY superstore in Britain. The only other store I can think of off the top of my head that comes close is maybe Homebase. Whether you need a single screw, a bathtub or even a potting plant then B&Q will see you right. It's usually small things I buy from B&Q, items like the odd screws or fittings etc. They are very hard ... Read the complete review

Having spent yet another weekend trying to do up my house (where has my social life gone?) I thought it woudl be good to review B&Q, as I currently spend half my life there. Speke and Edge Lane in Liverpool are the ones I go to. B&Q has pretty much everything you can think of in terms of DIY, from paint to whole kitchens. You can get some pretty cheap bathrooms and kitchens from there, but if you want them to fit it, then it's pretty expensive (to supply and fit my bathrrom - which is tiny - was a quote of about £6,000. I got it done for £2,500 somewhere else!) They do have a fair few offers on but they do seem to be more expensive than other places, ... Read the complete review

Had a kitchen installed by B&Q in March 2009. I spent a fortune on the installation because they assured me of quality and minimum inconvenience. It was a disgrace. The 5 days turned into 4 weeks. Left without water for a week. The house was left a mess each night with rubbish all over my garden. The tiling looks like it was done by a toddler. The electrical and gas work failed a NAPIT inspection (considered dangerous). The fitters were rude and agressive. They screwed through a pipe causing water damage and just gave me a tin of damp treatment to sort it out myself! The end result is worse than I could have done myself. I paid £4000 for installation ... Read the complete review

I am not too much into DIY and this review is based on a trip to B&Q we made with one of my previous flatmates 3 years ago, things may have changed a bit. We had agreed with our landlord that we would do some cosmetic repairs to our flat and he would refund us in full. Since we would do all the work, we would be able to spend a bit more money and make few changes to the place. We basically wanted to repaint the whole place, change the tiles in the shower room and put on some shelves. We had checked online at www.diy.com what they have, so that we would not waste too much time. For the paint it was easy, since my friend had pre ... Read the complete review

I should say at the outset that I am no fan of the DIY chain B&Q, having not set foot in one of their branches since February 2008 when I was verbally reprimanded by one of their members of staff in the Cribbs Causeway, Britsol store, for the offence of letting my young daughter run up and down in the paint aisle while I tried to find the exact shade of magnolia emulsion I was after. This charmer hollered down at me from the top of the cherry-picker load-lifter he was standing on two aisles away - then got exceedingly het up and, I felt, aggressive when I got on my high horse and said I wanted to complain to the store manager about what I felt to be his unfortunate ...
