B&Q is a DIY store that specialises in providing all your in and outdoor DIY needs. Our local (Plymouth) is a huge store, with specific sections for kitchens, fencing, bathrooms, tools and doors.

I really like this store, and the whole ethos of the company. I went for a job interview there once, and it's clear there is a real community feel amongst the staff. Bonding as a team, they work really well together, and there's always a positive vibe amongst the staff who are almost always really knowledgable about their area. I love the way they employ older people, particularly as this often means they have years of DIY experience they can share with you.

Stock-wise, they're second to none, and they have something for every budget; when we were laminating our floor, you could go from £4 to £50 a square metre, and I like that. Whilst it's not a cheap shop, they do have lower priced ranges, right up to brand names.

The sheer amount of stock is very impressive; over 12000 items fill the store, and most are well displayed so you can have a touch and a feel.

Parking is more than adequate, and the staff will always offer to take things to your car for you if you require some assistance, which is a very nice touch.

They have a really good website www.diy.com, where you can reserve items online, or order with free delivery from over 1200 items.

All in all, this is a one stop shop for everything from bed knobs to paving slabs, and the way the staff go out of their way to be helpful makes it an enjoyable place to visit. Just be careful though: I bought a wardrobe and it didn't fit in my car, so always check that before you leave!
