My experience with B&Q (B&Q)

I am not too much into DIY and this review is based on a trip to B&Q we made with one of my previous flatmates 3 years ago, things may have changed a bit.

We had agreed with our landlord that we would do some cosmetic repairs to our flat and he would refund us in full. Since we would do all the work, we would be able to spend a bit more money and make few changes to the place.

We basically wanted to repaint the whole place, change the tiles in the shower room and put on some shelves.

We had checked online at www.diy.com what they have, so that we would not waste too much time.
For the paint it was easy, since my friend had pre booked it, so we just went to collect it, although it took us some time to find the right place due to the size of the shop.

For the tiles, we also had an idea, but we wanted to check if there was something else. The problem with the shower room was that it had been built badly and there had been some infiltration of water. My friend asked for some cement and other material which was needed to protect the wall before putting on the new tiles and the staff was very helpful.

I also remember that there was a large number of relatively senior members of staff and I learnt later that it is actually common policy at this firm,because they take on people with experience and semi retired workers.

Since B&Q was the nearest large DIY store to where we lived, we had not made price comparisons, and anyway, we would not be the ones paying.

We also checked some sinks for the kitchen since we were thinking of changing that as well, and again the staff were helpful. We did not have too wait for too long either.

My experience is limited to this trip only, but I would surely go back if I had to, although on my own I am afraid I would not go too far, but this is because I am not really into DIY!
