This New Year my wife and I decided that it was about time we installed a new kitchen and thought that the New Year Sales would be the ideal time to buy. After viewing the B&Q "Half-Price Sale" adverts on TV and with one fairly close I went down with the kitchen measurements and managed to speak to one of the planners ... Read the complete review

As beginner DIYers, my girlfriend and I have shopped around for best value items for our new house. Having initially trawled around Homebase and B&Q, it is now B&Q that we go to for we feel that a) the organisation of the shop is better b) the prices are lower than at Homebase c) the staff are visual and approachable. In June 09, impressed by a special half-price offer on bathroom items we purchased a bath, panel, toilet and cistern at a cost of 352 pounds. When the items arrived we discovered the finish on the bath was so thin you could see your hand right through the material, and it seemed as weak as egg-shell. After contacting B&Q they arranged ... Let's face it, everyone like to dabble a bit in DIY at times. We may not always be successful but we'll always still crack on through the sweat, swear words and depressing problems. Then the time comes when you finish or find out you're missing a bit, and that's when you head for B&Q! B&Q is without a doubt the best ... Read the complete review

Had a kitchen installed by B&Q in March 2009. I spent a fortune on the installation because they assured me of quality and minimum inconvenience. It was a disgrace. The 5 days turned into 4 weeks. Left without water for a week. The house was left a mess each night with rubbish all over my garden. The tiling looks like ... Read the complete review

I should say at the outset that I am no fan of the DIY chain B&Q, having not set foot in one of their branches since February 2008 when I was verbally reprimanded by one of their members of staff in the Cribbs Causeway, Britsol store, for the offence of letting my young daughter run up and down in the paint aisle while I tried to ... We live near the megalithic Colchester B&Q warehouse. I haven't visited it all that often as their prices on basic consumables are often very high (for example silicon, masking tape). I tried to buy items using the self service - and placed the items in the areas as indicated by the notices. A foreign assistant haughtily told me I had done it all wrong - despite doing exactly what the notices clearly told me to do - and made it clear that other customers never had a problem ie. I must be stupid!I'm a cybernetics consultant to companies around the world - I am not spending money where assistants have no idea how to talk to the people that pay their wages.I will spend my money elsewhere in future.
