Advantages: Quick, relatively painless

Disadvantages: More expensive than a pair of tweezers

I usually either pluck my eyebrows myself or get them waxed, depending on whether I'm feeling flush or skint! However both of these are pretty painful and waxing is pretty expensive. I'd vaguely heard of threading as an alternative, but wasn't quite sure what it was until I came across Benito Brow Bar in my local Debenhams. They were set up as a concession stall among the perfumes and although this was a new addition to the store they assured me that they would be there permanently.

The brow bar was basically 4 leather reclining seats staffed by 2 ladies who were I think Indian. They had very smart uniforms and name badges and I was reassured by the professional look of the bar. They had a few bottles of lotions and potions, and a banner advertising prices (£10 for a brow shape, but they also do other facial threading and lash extensions too). I didn't have to wait long at all - they don't do appointments, but even at a busy lunchtime I got seen pretty much straight away.

I lay back and relaxed while the lady got on with the job in hand. I still don't understand the technique of threading, but it's very clever! - it basically involves quickly running the thread around the hairs and somehow whipping them out. It felt similar to waxing, but if anything a little bit gentler (but on the downside wasn't over as fast!) It made my eyes water a bit but wasn't excessively painful. The lady kept showing me in the mirror to make sure I was happy with the shape.

They did look fantastic afterwards! Very neat and tidy, with no stragglers. The threading removes even the shortest hairs for a very clean finish. The lady applied Aloe Vera gel afterwards to soothe the redness and take away the sting, but I went straight back to work and no-one noticed so I must have looked OK! In total it took around 10 mins so fine for a lunchtime treat.

Overall very happy and will go back - especially as I was given a loyalty card for my 8th brow shape free!

Summary: Will be going back to Benito!
