Advantages: set your own hours, meet lovely people, Easy to run
Disadvantages: the weather, dogs!, gates!
There's something very attractive about starting a new business that involves no initial outlay, so I decided to give Betterware a go. I had been with Avon for a few months so knew the pitfalls of selling via catalogues to people at home. I started out small, covering areas I had been to with Avon books. Gradually my orders grew in size and after being snowed on, soaked and almost blown away I was glad to get some sunshine. This last week I have pushed out over 300 books and my order was nearly £200. Not that great, I know, but I'm sure as with Avon that when people get used to me calling they will order. Some areas are better than others so it is worth looking at the types of estates that order and only covering those. I have found that the villages are better for big orders over a small area, I can get 12 orders from only 75 houses there. With part of the town I have been given I collected in 60 books with no orders. As I said, you have to pick the areas you cover. And then you have Kleeneze to compete with. They seem to be everywhere and I've had a couple of people get funny with me when I'm sure its Kleeneze books they are sick of getting. At least other Betterware reps won't try to take your customers.
I am now looking at becoming a co-ordinator. This involves more work and commitment but also more rewards. I would get commission on my distributors orders as well as the patch I cover.
As my manager said, with Betterware what you see is what you get. The rewards are up to you to achieve. Nothing is hidden and everything is provided free. What have you got to lose?

- 26/05/05 The details others have requested, is that the Company is a direct selling Housewares Company selling via a catalogue. The job is quite simple, you drop catalogues through peoples door, and return 1,2 or 3 days latter to collect them, hopefully you will have orders in them. Some people are quite rude when you return to collet them, obviously they do not realise you are only trying to earn a bit of money, and have not put the catalogue through their door simly to annoy them. In answer to the question are Kleenezy and Betterware one company, the answer is NO, Betterware DO NOT charge distributors for catalogues etc, and are not a network marketing company (old pyramid selling), unfortuatly Kleenezy are both of these, and therfore costs you alot of money. Betterware is an ideal oportunity if you want to earn extra money or want a full time job. The co ordinator is not just getting rich off the distributors back, as I am a co ordinator myself, and put out in excess of 800 catalogues a week myself, and most co ordinators put out catalogues themselves. They also put in a lot of work behind the sceens, as they will go out with new distributors to show them how to get the best out of the job. If anyone is intersted in joining or finding out more, then yes betteware do have a web site at www.betterware.co.uk there are all the questiones answered there, and if you want more info the web site has a phone number for you to call. Hope to see you on one of our buiness seminars soon.

- 15/05/05 Welcome to to dooyoo :o)
There's some great advice in the comments below. If you could include a bit more detail (such as products available in the catalogue) you'd gain a higher rating!
