Advantages: Possible to grab a bargain at Christmas time

Disadvantages: out of date, expensive

British Home Stores, also known as BHS has been around since before I can remember, however in my eyes, the stores themselves have hardly changed at all. The store is known for selling household items and also clothing.

Upon entering a BHS, whatever the location, the inside always looks the same. The lighting is quite depressing, and the products lack excitement.

I feel that BHS has been left behind and is trying to compete with the other stores that have kept up to date and modernised. The stock it holds is extremely old fashioned and I feel this lets it down. It has not gone in line with its competitors, yet it still charges, what I believe to be high prices for the product on offer. Some of the stores have a cafe, which is always nice when you are out shopping. Whilst the price in the cafe for tea or a snack is not too bad, I do find that if you are looking to purchase lunch or dinner, that the prices are far too expensive for a high street store cafe.
The only time nowadays that I enter BHS is during the Christmas times when they have a range of gifts in and reduce them. It is possible to get some good bargains then, however they tend to be concessionary products rather than the BHS brand itself.
I think that a revamp of the BHS is needed.
