Advantages: Experience of picking a movie and stamp card

Blockbuster Video Rental stores were great when I was younger, we would go get a family flick, pile on the couch and munch our way through the film. As a teen me and the girls would go select a chick flick, based on the eye candy on offer, and settle down with hot choc and marshmallows to enjoy the movie. As an adult I enjoy going and selecting a movie from Blockbuster, picking my ice cream and treats, and watching it cuddled up on the sofa with my partner.

However, lately, I would say over the last year, the options in my local store have become limited. You cant get any classics any more (and you would think it would be easier to store DVDs than VHS), current titles are quite regularly all out and after the first week or so, any additional copies go in to the pre-owned for sale box. They do have good deals on, for example 5 (family / comedy / action / etc) for £5 keep for 7 nights, but the DVDs in this range tend to be badly scratched and they skip or pause while your watching them. I have had quite a few issues with my local store lately, so I thought it must just be that store. I joined another one in the town where I work. This is just the same.

My favourite thing is the stamp card promo they have running regularly, where you rent 8 and get 1 free. I much prefer online rental stores now though, including Blockbusters. You miss out on the experience of going to the store, selecting your film and goodies, but there's no late fees which saves money and it is more convenient.

Summary: Poor service, quality, expensive, and not all that great anymore
