Advantages: usually have the film you want

Disadvantages: none

Blockbuster must be the best know video rental shop around – well it is in Cornwall anyway. There isn’t much competition.

What’s good about Blockbuster is that they usually always have the film in stock that you want to see. They get quite a few copies of the new releases. They also rent Playstation and Dreamcast games. You can rent the film on DVD now but they don’t tend to have as many copies of the films in on DVD.

What’s bad, not just about Blockbuster but about video hire in general, is that you can buy the film from the USA on DVD usually before it’s out to hire in this country. Because of this my local Blockbuster has not been visited by me for several months now. I would rather pay £14 and buy the film a few months before than pay £3.50 to hire it out.

If you don’t have a DVD player though Blockbuster is definitely a good choice to hire out your film. To join you just need two pieces of ID, driving licence and credit card usually does it. You also set up a password system, they ask you for your password before you hire anything out so if someone gets hold your card they still won’t be able to get videos without your password, a very good system I think. New releases are £3.50 to hire, down here they are anyway might be more expensive elsewhere, I would be interested to know if they are????

Blockbuster also sell ex-rental DVD’s and videos, you can get some bargains but this isn’t too often, usually they aren’t much cheaper than they are new from Woolies. If you ever get to go to Blockbuster in the states they reduce their ex-rentals a great deal more than we do and practically give them away – we came back with quite a few!

You can also buy your munchies from Blockbuster at a bit more expense than normal. Useful if you are lazy and can’t be bothered to go to another shop. You have to have munchies to eat while watching a film!
Our local Blockbuster also has a big Hagaan Das ice cream freezer with lots of different flavours, I personally think it’s disgusting stuff but everyone else seems to like it.

Staff are always friendly when I go in and there’s never a queue so you don’t have to hang around for hours! If you take your video back in the morning before they are open there’s a big enough post box to fit the video in so you don’t have to wait until they open.

Overall an enjoyable place to visit, even if it is just to browse!

Well written and very discriptive op ! We only live within a few mins walking distance from one here in London and its great for those gloomy Sunday's when you don't feel like doing anything but watching a great video and turning into a lounge lizard for the day. Good to know there is a reputable Blockbuster in Cornwall we are thinking about moving there early next year !!
