Advantages: lots of copies of new films
Disadvantages: no Warner films, no independent movies, no old movies
Basically, you know what Blockbusters is all about. You have read the other opinions and know how a video rental shop works. I would like to bring your attention to the fact that since late August Blockbuster's are not stocking Warner Brother titles. So far, if you head down on a Saturday evening you will have been unable to find Ocean's Eleven, We Were Soldiers, Queen of the Damned, Rock Star, Hearts in Atlantis, Collateral Damage and others. This is due to Warner Bros changing their terms and conditions: they are doing away with the rental 'window', which means you can buy on the same day as you can rent, they are also refusing to allow vids to be sold as 'ex-rental'-a large source of profit to Blockbusters. To be fair, all other 'big' video companies are also not stocking the titles although Choices have already folded and are stocking new Warner films. If therefore you go to your video store expecting a full range of titles prepare to be disappointed. Blockbusters say they are working for the customers 'best interest' but surely in a consumer led market this would mean offering a full choice of titles available. Me? I'll be renting from Movietrak.com and DVDsontap.com.
