Advantages: Good sizing, wide range of styles and colours, fab quality

Disadvantages: Not the cheapest

Until I got pregnant with my first child earlier this year I had never considered just how hard it is to buy maternity clothes on the High Street. Very few places offer a range, some have a maternity range in store but not online but sizing can be very hit and miss- not ideal if you can't try on.

Then a friend of mine with two children suggested Blooming Marvellous to me. I am fortunate that there is a store near to where I work (there are only 11 stores nationwide) so I was able to try the clothes before I bought. The brand also offers a wide range of baby clothes and nursery accessories, but this review focusses on the maternity range.

I've been really impressed with everything I've bought from Blooming Marvellous. One of the things I love is that I just have to buy my usually pre-pregnancy size and I can be confident that the clothes will fit- this cannot be said for a lot of pregnancy ranges. The brand offers sizes 8-18. The quality of the material is really good, the clothes wash well and hold their shape.

The range of styles that Blooming Marvellous offers is great. I absolutely love their basics such as vests and T-shirts, but they also have a very nice range of dressier items such as tops, skirts and dresses. They also have a refreshing range of colours- so much maternity wear seems to be black which gets very drab after a while.

Price-wise I think that this is a case of you get what you pay for- I'd say the prices are reasonable for the quality and the range, but they're not dead cheap. Having said that if you can pick up some bits in the sale then there are real bargains to be had- I've just bought seven items for £30 online including delivery. I'd definitely say even at full price the clothes are worth the money. The work trousers that I bought six months ago and worn to death are still looking as good as new.

I'd recommend any pregnant lady to check out the website, and if you're lucky enough to have a store near you then check that out too and try some bits on.

Summary: Worth a look for any pregnant lady

I used to buy from them when I was pregnant in the 1980s! Great to know that they are still doing so well.
