Advantages: great personal service, friendly and efficient
Disadvantages: NONE AT ALL!
Getting married is probably one of the biggest commitments you will make and one of the largest investments after buying a house. As a girl I used to dream about my dream day imagining the dress I will wear, it was therefore important I chose the best retailer.
I had heard of Pronuptia, a chain store with branches in most cities. I had heard a few things about the store and feedback was not always positive. I had heard people saying that it was a little like a cattle market with a very clinical approach to dress shopping. I could see what they meant as when I visited a few stores I felt so pressured into making a decision there and then. I felt unable to browse without some woman saying "oh that wouldn't suit your complexion" or "oh no you wouldn't look good in that style". I was quite surprised by their ability to comment on a dress without so much as trying it on.
I had seen the Blue Orchid Dress advertising car driving around my local town and was impressed by the 'home visits' on offer. I took a look at their website and was amazed by the gowns in the sale section so decided to make an appointment.
I arrived at my appointment and the lady offered me a cup of tea. I explained that I was only going to look and try on a few gowns and had no intention of buying until I was certain on style and colour scheme. The lady was very happy to accept this and did not try to put me ff in any way.
She picked out a few dresses in my size and most importantly in my budget. I was most impressed that after saying that I wasn't wanting to spend any more than £300 she only showed me dresses in my price range. I wasn't forced into spending anymore than I was comfortable with. She was exceptional at choosing dresses that would flatter my figure and suit my complexion. She included my mum and showed her how to fasten the dress, giving very useful tips. I did not feel forced into buying a dress but was so impressed with the service that I made the decision to put a deposit in a £299 dress.
A few days later I received conformation through the post and a form to enable me to pay ion instalments which is useful on my low wages. I have seen her at a few bridal fairs and can really tell the difference between her service and those of major companies.
Blue Orchid Gowns operate a free home delivery service in Devon and Cornwall and I am sure they go further if mileage is paid. Dresses can also be purchased on the online shop www.blueorchidgowns.co.uk.
I love the fact that I can visit to pay my money each month and see my dress. This means that if I buy items to match the dress on Ebay I can try the dress on with them. She has also offered to keep the dress until the wedding in a safe place so that I do not have to worry about storage or the other half seeing it.
Overall I can only say that the service received was top class and I couldn't recommend Blue Orchid Gowns enough!
