Advantages: Good quality, fashionable clothes
Disadvantages: Not for the younger generation
I love shopping, and I am delighted to say that there is a Bon Marche store in the town where I live. I am almost certain that many High Streets now have a Bon Marche.
I love going in and having a good browse around. This store does not really cater for the younger generation. This is probably why a lot of people think it is for old ladies.
It sells a wide selection of ladies clothing and accessories. I especially like it for their casual styles. I have recently purchased a pair of 'jogging trousers' for the princely sum of £7. No, I am not taking up running, they are for wearing around the house. They are lovely and thick and extremely comfy. They have been washed several times and have washed very well.
I have also bought quite a few tee shirts and sweaters. Bon Marche also do a great range of jackets and coats. Although they are not designer standard they are good quality and the price for a jacket starts at £19.99.
One of the reasons this store is popular with my friends and I is the fact that their trousers and jeans come in a variety of lengths. None of us have ever had to alter a pair of trousers we have bought from this store.
The stock is always well laid out, and the newest stock tends to be displayed in the centre aisle.
At the end of each season there are usually good reductions on quite a lot of the stock. This is obviously them trying to clear out the old stock to make way for the new season's ranges. Although some of the stock is a bit older fashioned, I find that the majority is very fashoinable.
Bon Marche also do promotional offers on new stock. I bought a sweater last week and the price was £12. As there was an offer, on this particular sweater, I got it for £8.
Bon Marche do a great range of sizes. Their ranges start from a size 10 and go right up to a size 24.
I have got a Bon Marche advantage card (which is readily available to anyone) and every few months, I get a small catalogue through the post. This gives a preview of new stock and usually a money off voucher as in - Spend £25 and get £5 off.
One thing you don't get with this card is any points or pennies.
Every few months they also do a promotion whereby they issue me with a small card and each time I make a purchase I get a stamp on my card. It works in multiples of £5 as in - for each, £5 I spend I get one stamp on my card. Ten stamps on my card gives me £5 to spend in store. £5 is the minimum I can redeem.
In my opinion this is a great 'middle of the road shop' where I can buy outfits, casual wear, shoes, bags, jewellery, underwear, nightwear, hats, scarfs and gloves. They are all reasonably priced and in my opinion good quality.
Summary: Well worth a look
