Advantages: Great customer service, good loyalty card
Disadvantages: Can be on the expensive side
Boots The Chemist has been going for a long time and has been a high street regular for everyone. Even if you've only ever used Boots for taking you perscriptions to most people will have been in on at some point.
Nowadays Boots is no longer just a chemist it sells so much stuff from beauty products, baby stuff to Christmas goodies including food hampers? Definately not just a chemist anymore. If you are struggling to find something for the difficult one in you life try Boots you'd be amazed at what they have.
Depending on where you live does depend on the size of the store that you have. I have been in some stores which are tiny and only have a small selection of the Boots range up to ones which have more than one floor to fit everything in.
I have recently been using my local Boots store for their premium beauty range for both myself and my partner. I have always found the staff in Boots friendly and helpful but these ladies just go the extra mile. My skin being as it is I have returned to Clarins (bank balance willing) and as my partner has long had issues with his skin I took (or should that be dragged) him with me one day to try the Clarins Men section out and see if this could help. He felt a bit weird standing in such a promient position in the store looking at the different products and having a woman touch his face but he's now a convert. Bearing in mind that she is very unlike to have used this range her knowledge was vast and she was really helpful.
She even pointed out that if I put my card in the machine and printed out a voucher I could get more points as we were spending over a certain amount. Ever since then every time we go into Boots even if we're not going to the counter she always says hello and asks how we are. You can't beat customer service like that and it really does make the difference.
I have also used the instore collection service when I have ordered off the website and this process was easy. They went and found the goods, transfered them to a bag and I signed to say I'd collected them, easy!
Now I know they are not perfect and sometimes I do struggle to work out where something is going to be as they stock so much and its not always in the most logical place, but a friendly member of staff can always point you in the right direction.
I rarely use Boots anymore for perscriptions, mainly because I have a chemist down the road which is easier to get to when I need this service, but Boots has done such a good job of diversifying that they really don't need to worry about those of us who don't use this service anymore.
I would recommend Boots to anyone but also warn them to check the price of what they are after as they are not always the cheapest even when you take into account the points that you get but their special offers on certain lines can be really worth it. Due to the sometimes higher prices they aren't going to make the full 5/5 but if I based it on the customer service I have received they would.
Summary: Well worth a look for something different
