Disadvantages: Price
Ahhh boots the chemist, i used to work there in my uni days. good times. Before that i used to pop into boots when ever i could, its such a good store. Please note some features that i will review about will vary depending on the size of your local store.
As with pretty much all the boots stores i have entered i am always welcomed by the rows of the make up. Brands such as no7, revlon etc are all placed in sections and give us the customer some testers to sample. Usually they are none left as all the little teenagers have come in and topped up their faces. Being male i have no need to buy these products but have had to fill them up a few times lol.
They have a fregrance counter which is probably my favourite area both as a customer and as a former employee. I used to get to spray on all the good brands and even the new ones that werent even on sale yet! As a customer is good as they allow you to test the products. The prices are pretty reasonable prices and on the odd occassion do a sale on certain ones, usually the old classic ones. On festive times they will bring out a load of gift sets which they will try to sell to you and are pretty much the same price to. My advice would be to wait after the festive times have finished and the sales come along. The box sets usually got down in price and you can pick up a lovely smelling bargain.
They have a pharmacy counter/section where all your medical needs are pretty much met there. They have vitamins, cough medicines, sleeping remedies, creams for pains and also contraceptives for the specail ocassions ;). Tablets/capsules for pain relief. You name it they have it. If you cant find what you are looking for medicine wise on the shop floor it would probably be behind the counter such as larger packs of tablets. Before you purchase certain items they always ask you a series of questions, just to make sure what you are buying does not counter react with your syptoms or any medication you are taking. I only know this bit because i was training for that bit. You can also drop off and collect your prescriptions aswell. Around the pharmacy section, usually near the vitamins and energy supplements they also have a section for diabetic people. They have chocolates, biscuits and other stuff aswell.
They have a photo section where you can give in your film and get them printed off. You can pick your size and choose what sort of service you want (1hour or 24hour). They also sell photo films, frames and photo books too. in this section they will also sell batteries and deposable cameras ( usually at B.O.G.O.F).
They also have a baby section, with nappies, baby care, baby food and in some places babycare items such as baby bottles, dummys and bibs. Also in the store there is also a dental section (toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrush and also items for those who have braces), mens body care which consist of body washs, deoderants, shaving utensils and facial care. They also have the same for woman which also includes body care lotions and also nailcare and waxing products for thoses legs, armpits and the special place. They is also hair care (mainly for the women) such as shampoos, conditioners, dyes, styling gels, sprays and waxes and also hairbands and brushes. Oh and some sell tights to for the ladies :P.
In some boots they also have an opticians and may sell precribed glasses, normal reading glasses and sunglassed. So far (touch wood) i have not needed to visit this part as my eyes are quite good, thankfully.
In some of the larger stores they also stock electrical goods for grooming and for dental hygiene. They also sell hairdryers, striaghtners and also some massaging items too.
Last but not least they also sell food and drink there too. They have a boots meal deal which would consist of a sandwich, wrap, pasta, salad or sushi ANY drink and ANY confectionary item as long as its not more than £1.30 or £1.50. You can have all of this for only £2.99 or £3.49 in your in central london. This i think is an amazing price as some of the foods in there cost as much as £2.70. So for only 29P more you can get a drink and sweet. BARGAIN!! I admit thats all i pretty much ate when i was working there and still go there for the odd lunch. Great way to use up the points!
Overall boots is a great place to go to. They are always well stocked, have pretty much everything i need whenever i go in. if you find that something is out of stock a member of staff is also happy to go back and check to see if theres more at the back for you. Theres always enough staff around to help you with what you want and where you need to go to get it. Some staff are quite knowledgable to so can recommend you certain items for your needs. The only problem i could say is that on the odd occassion its not the cheapest but overall i would recommend this to anybody.
Thanks for reading. Thid will also be found on Ciao.
