Advantages: good range

Disadvantages: difficult to spend the points

As a Chemists, Boots can't be faulted. they will carry a huge range of products both off the shelf and over the counter and they will also offer help and advice - even when it is not wanted.

They carry a huge range of health and beauty goods too. I think this is probably the best range carried in any high street store. The prices are also quite good in this area.

They can usually be beaten on price in the Shampoos and conditioners but if you want something "desginer" or a little more obscure then this is the place to go.

They make a really good effort for Christmas too. I went into the store yesterday and found lots of quirky and imaginative presents, many of these were on "3 for 2" type offers, or had extra advantage points added.

The Boots Advantage card is also a good bonus. It gives you four points for every pound and the till receipt tells you how much you have in real money. The main problem with this system is that a good percentage of the goods in store are exempt from the points scheme - meaning that you can clock up points in buying them, but you try paying for them with points. If I remember correctly its goods marked with a "*" that are exempt. If you look round the store you'll quickly see how many goods are exempt. In order for them to have a first class points system they really do need to change this and soon.

I usually buy my toiletries from tesco now along with my main food shop, but Boots is still one of my first choices for more unusual items or for gift ideas.

Now does anyone have any ideas what I can buy with £11.00 of advantage points?

Thanks for that - I always get it the wrong way round when I go to the counter anyway (!) i don't understand why there is a restriction - except perhaps on goods ffrom the chemist bit.

Hi Karon, I think the items marked with a "*" are the ones you can exchange your points for. They don't very often have things I want to use my points for either!
