Borders in general

Newest Review: ... The store is well maintained and kept clean with shelves always fully stocked. The staff are knowledgable and willing to offer help whenever asked and never rush you into making a choice if you are purchasing the book you are looking through. There are regularly special offers on in store and this is across a large selection of books which is one of the best things about Borders as some stores offer special offers on a tiny selection of books. Positives: - Excellent variety of books - Great offers - Friendly and helpful staff - Well laid out and fantastically maintained stores - Well stocked shelves - A relaxed shopping experience Negati... more

I am a huge fan of reading and working up in a city centre I have often headed to the Glasgow Borders store to take a look around the selection on offer and am always impressed with the variety of books on offer and how well laid out the store is. I have been a regular shopper at Borders for a number of years. There is obviously a huge choice of book shops on the high street but Borders has always stood out as a firm favourite of mine. My local store is a very big one and also contains a Starbicks and a Paperchase. The layout is impressive, it feels spacious and welcoming, whilst at the same time having a tremendous amount of books and accessories available. So many stores today cram in their goods and it can often feel like a jumble sale. I never feel that in Borders. I often feel quite relaxed! The layout of the store is very clear. There is good signage illustrating what books ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Borders in general: Bordering on the perfect location for Book Addicts (1066 words)

I confess I'm a book addict, I have too many that I haven't read and enough to keep me in good reading material for ages, but I still can't resist visiting a well stocked bookshop and perhaps picking up one of two more interesting volumes to add to my to be read pile. One of the shops that I'll pay a visit to no matter where in the country I am to get my book fix (and to satisfy a caffeine craving but more of that later) is Borders. I have visited several Borders stores round the country so will generalise based on my experiences, however please remember there may be slight variations from store to store depending mostly on size. *Stores* These ...  Read the complete review

Borders is a Subsiduary in the UK and came from the USA by two university graduates in Michigan... Now the UK has alot of these stores which actually perform better overseas than in the USA with Singapore being the Highest at one time and actually was the first to open overseas. So what do you expect from the stores in the UK? From the minute I walk into most of the stores I have the smell of lovely coffee, I then see small islands of books that are reduced or on best seller's lists. There are an assortment of Educating Gifts around the till queue area such as Playing Cards to Sodoku books. There's also a secion where you can buy a large amount of non ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Borders in general: Why Is It Called Borders? (410 words)

Borders looks to be a typical largescale book emporium on stepping in to the store, but in the Southampton Borders, walk upstairs and you'll find a Starbucks (I'm not sure of the exact location of each of your Starbucks in Borders), well how novel you think. A Book store with coffee, brilliant. Whenever I go there I'm reminded of the Black Books episode in which on seeing a new high street coffee chain which serves coffee Manny kits the book shop out with a coffee machine, sofas that 'eat' you and an information desk. It all ends in disaster when they decide to also become a restaurant in order to keep customers buying books all hours of the day. Of course ...  Read the complete review
