Advantages: Big and airy, huge range, helpful staff, nice atmosphere

Disadvantages: Price

Borders is probably one of my favourite places to go and chill. I can happily spend a good few hours in Borders, browsing the books, grabbing a coffee in the starbucks coffee shop upstairs and looking at all the pretty stationary they have in there. Their stores are generally huge with the biggest selection of books and magazines of any book shop in the UK. I almost always find what I'm looking for in Borders, and if they don't have something in that you want, they will happily order it for you.

The books are well set out, all divided by their genre and I always find it easy to find what I am looking for. If you do have any problems, there are always lots of staff around who you can ask for help. There are also computers dotted about that you can search for books on and they will tell you where that book is located (if they have it in).

Borders also sells DVDs, CDs, magazines, stationary, games and I'm not sure about all the other stores but the one near me now has a Game shop within it (selling computer/console games). Unfortunately, I think this may be due to the fact that Borders isn't doing too well in the current economic downturn and so they are trying to get income from other means. I will be very sad if Borders does ever go into administration but with books on the internet being so cheap and Borders selling at the RRP, I suppose it is only a matter of time.

Although buying books from borders is more expensive than getting them online, to be fair they do usually have offers on, for example buy 2 get 1 free. They tend to have this offer on all the time on paperback bestsellers which is pretty good.

Borders sell their own gift card things which are great for giving as gifts when you don't know someone too well and don't know which kinds of books they like. For me, the actual experience of shopping in borders is as much the reason I go as the actual purchasing of books! I know that sounds really sad but what can I say, something about being surrounded by books just appeals to me!

I would really recommend Borders to everyone. Yes it is more expensive than buying online or even at the supermarket, but you can not beat the range of books they have and you can not beat the shopping experience either!

Summary: I love spending time in borders browsing all the books and would recommend it to anyone.
