Advantages: Relaxing atmosphere with coffee smells
Disadvantages: none
Borders is a Subsiduary in the UK and came from the USA by two university graduates in Michigan...
Now the UK has alot of these stores which actually perform better overseas than in the USA with Singapore being the Highest at one time and actually was the first to open overseas.
So what do you expect from the stores in the UK? From the minute I walk into most of the stores I have the smell of lovely coffee, I then see small islands of books that are reduced or on best seller's lists. There are an assortment of Educating Gifts around the till queue area such as Playing Cards to Sodoku books.
There's also a secion where you can buy a large amount of non book items such as Storage Box's, Folders and diary's.
They have a section for kids books and also have big comfy chairs so you can sit and relax. Also if you need to go to the toilet then theres good clean ones in borders.
You have books in catergory's along with lifestyle magazines.
The Stores usually play music and have a large deck sound system.
The Staff are usually quite young and tend to be students who are quite intelligent though sometimes a bit shy when I go into the stockport one.
The Books are priced quite good and they have a broad range such as within the Languages area they have several company's and a mixture of audio learning.
Overall this is definitly where I go to buy any books
Summary: great book shop
