You know what my favourite smell is? Books. Yup, I have a particular penchant for the smell of old books, but will settle for new ones at a push. In fact, there isn't much I don't like about books. I like looking at them, reading them, handling them, buying them. I'm a regular little bookworm indeed, so it's no particular surprise that when I'm ... Read the complete review

I like reading books. I like listening to Jazz. I like drinking coffee. I like poetry readings. I like Piano recitals. I like soft sofas. And I like Borders, because everything I like is fused into one, like an artistic overload. Going into Borders is like entering the head of Melvyn Bragg. There's nothing missing, especially rare ... Some people love to shop online. After all, why not? It's quick, efficient, and usually cheaper than in the high street. If, however, like me, you prefer to browse, lounge around, and have a snack at a cafe, then borders is, in my opinion, as near as you get to a perfect shop (if you like books/CDs/magazines, that is). The ... Read the complete review

I am not usually a big fan of anything American but I am willing to make an exception for Borders. Borders is a innovative US bookstore company with attitude which has recently opened several stores in the UK and looks likely to challenge the UK bookshop scene in a big way. Firstly, it is so accessible –opening from 8am until 11pm ... Read the complete review

Borders is an American company with six or seven stores in the UK. It also owns the Books etc chain of bookshops. There are two Borders in London one in Charing Cross Road and one in Oxford Street - both are absolutely huge. Because they are American-styled they have a quite distinct feel from the British Waterstones. They provide lots of ... Read the complete review

Until I found Borders bookshops, a year ago my life was fairly desolate, as I searched in vain for the ultimate bookshop experience. I have always been a bookshop junkie, right from the time I was little, standing in WHSmiths to finish the lastest book. Shortly, after getting by own income supply, I graduated to the likes of Dillons and Books etc. ... Read the complete review

Borders Borders on the Border between heaven and hell for me, its "heaven" as it sells such a massive and diverse range of wares, its a kind of "hell" because most people can't but some (often the ones that will not appreciate them anyway) can afford all those delights. Oh how I wish the public libraries were as ... Read the complete review

Borders is one of my favourite shops, even if I don't tend to spend that much there. As a shop, it has a lovely environment, just what you want from a bookshop. I can easily spend hours here browsing the shelves. It's just a shame that their prices are so high on most items. The Glasgow branch of Borders has only been open for ... Read the complete review

I had to find a particular book for my Social Science HNC course. There had been a pay out from the ACCESS fund and, as I have said in the Psychology ‘Books’ section of dooyoo, I felt duty bound to buy the book I needed for the Psychology module. Psychology: The Science of Mind and ... Read the complete review

While I am not a big fan of working in Glasgow it does have one big advantage, that being that I can nip over to Borders during my lunch hour. Situated nice and centrally in Buchanan Street the store is about ten minutes walk away from where I work. Placed on four floors (I think, the split levels make it a bit difficult to figure out ... My local Border's is Leeds as well, There are loads of bookshops here, but you really don't need to bother with them! Just go to Borders, I think that WH Smiths are a bit over priced on many things, but Borders are great on prices for books, the DVD's, CD's and vid's are the usual price, but it's a wonderful shop for books ... Remember bookshops a few years ago? Dusty places where people were inclined to 'sh' at you as if you were in a library if you dared to giggle or even whisper? Meanwhile programmes like Ellen provided an amazing vision of massive American bookstores, where you could browse, relax in squishy sofas with a range of exciting coffees, ... My local Borders is the store in Leeds and what a wonderful experience it is every time you go in there to shop or to browse! Apart from the thousands and thousands of fantastic titles on a ground and basement level you can listen to the most sublime traditional folk music while you are browsing. There is a seating area in the besement ... Read the complete review
