Brantano

I have to date had 3 shopping experiences in my local Brantano store. We have a largish store opened up in Marsh Barton industrial estate in Exeter. The store past seasons designer shoes and boots for children and adults, along with shoe care accessories. The shoes are all laid out on shelves and in pairs in shoe size (this is UK shoe size) and please be aware that the do not sell half sizes. I'm now buying the finally items for my wedding and realised that I still hadn't found any wedding shoes. I decided I didn't want to wear heels that were too high as I'd be wearing them all day. (I'm still on two minds whether to have my trainers hidden somewhere in case my feet get sore whilst dancing.) Brantano is a relatively recent addition to Barrow, like other Brantano stores it has shoes out on the shelves in sizes rather than by styles and out in pairs so it's not necessary for the assistants to find the other half of the pair in a store room out the back. The store in Barrow seems large when you first walk in, but the selection for each shoe size is very limited and most of the shoes only follow the current fashion trends meaning they all look very similar, reducing the choice still further. Brantano could be marmite - you either love it or hate it, and this is normally a simultaneous feeling. Without doubt Brantano is laid out in an orderly manner with shoes segregated according to size, with plenty of space between the shoe displays. Unlike other shoe stores Brantano is widely known for the fact that they have both shoes from the pair out on their displays. Although Brantano do measure childrens feet - I have never used this service and prefer to stay loyal to Clarks. I visit Brantano when I know what type of shoes i want- as it is highly likely that they will have a pair that matches my spec. I love the fact that all the shoes are layed out in sizes for you to try on. I hate going into a shoe shop and having to get the assistant to get a pair of shoes in my size as most of the time you stand there waiting for ages only to have them come back saying that they haven't got your size. This is so fustrating which is why i love brantanos.
