Advantages: none, n/a, n/a
Disadvantages: Unwanted goods, Higher than usual prices, Rubbish customer service
An introductory offer to any club is only of any value if you don?t spend the rest of your membership paying extra on over priced goods to pay for the stupid thing you bought in the first place. Britannia Music Club or bclub as they are now known, at least on line, seem to be offering something only marginally away from a confidence trick. Yes it is true that to begin with you get something at a very good price, and if you only ever by things at their ?bonus? price there after, you will probably save money on your films and music. However, buying at the ?bonus? price will not contribute to the six recordings that you commit to buy during your membership. These are at ?full? or inflated price. Their aim seems to be to get recordings to people in as many ways as possible and to make it as difficult as they can for them to be returned, in the vain hope presumably that they will make a sale almost by default when a customer finally pays for their unwanted items in exasperation. There will be the occasional ?recommended recording? that turns up unsolicited on the door step when a holiday, work or life in general prevents the canceling of it, to return these you must pay the postage yourself, what an underhand way of making a bit of cash. Worse still, beware of errors made on the bclub website, orders are apparently processed at lightening speed, so if you click to order something by mistake, too bad, it goes straight to dispatch and cannot be cancelled under any circumstances, not by phone, fax or email, not by post or carrier pigeon, no matter how fast you move no body can get to dispatch to prevent that recording from pumping out into the postal system and yes you?ve guessed it, to return it you must pay the postage yourself. However used you may have become to being able to cancel on order at the click of a button on other sites this is not the way of bclub, they want you to have that recording in your
home, regardless of how unwanted it is, they need you to forget that it?s there just long enough for them to be able to charge you for it. Add to this unbelievably bad customer service, and you have the recipe for success Britannia style. So buyer beware, that £2.99 bargain DVD will cost you.

- 21/10/07 I totally agree with this comment. I have been trying to extricate myself from bclub/Britannia for years. They insist that I pay £56 which was the original cost of the 4 'free' CDs I received before I can cancel. They will not send me a statement of everything I have had and the price etc., so I cannot check. They have also charged me postage at every opportunity by sending items I have not ordered. They are a disgrace and someone should do something about it. |
