Advantages: Great variety of shops, well designed shopping centre, clean and fresh feel, spacious
Disadvantages: None
Glasgow is a city which over recent years has seen huge improvements to the look and feel of the city centre and in the main this has meant that the variety and quality of shops has become exceptional and pushed Glasgow to be one of the best shopping experiences around.
Buchanan Galleries is fantastically placed for people travelling into Glasgow as it is across the road from Glasgows main bus terminal and is right beside Glasgow Queen Street train station and also the underground station right beside this.
The centre itself is a fantastically bright, airy and clean shopping area which has shops on each side with a large central "walkway" meaning that you don't feel confined when it gets busy.
The shops on offer include:
John Lewis, Game, Next, Boots, Thorntons, River Island, Topman, Levi's, Gap, Phones 4 U, Clintons, Disney Store and many more
The shops are all well maintained and kept clean with ample space to move around the stores thanks to it being well designed and laid out.
The shopping centre has escalators to take you up and down each floor which helps the centre to feel a very natural flow with the centre gradually slopes up so that you are moving along the stores without having a mega distance to walk meaning that you can enter and leave the centre without having moved miles from your starting point.
The main entrance offers automatic doors with a side entrance having normal entrance methods but offering elevators aswell as escalators.
I have on a couple of occassions also gone to the food court which has about 5 places on offer to get food from but I have only ever eaten at the Burger King. I have also had a snack and drink in John Lewis which has a restaurant area that overlooks the rest of the centre and is below the large dome roof.
Positives:
- Well designed and laid out shopping centre
- Food court
- Design keeps you very central so that when leaving you are not miles from where you started
- Escalators and elevators which are always well maintained
- Clean, airy and fresh feel
- Great variety of shops
- Stalls in the "walkway" area
- In-built car park
Negatives:
- None
I love the shopping experience in Glasgow and thanks to the placement of the Buchanan Galleries I always go for a walk around the shops within due to the fact there is a good variety on offer and it does not place you miles from the entrance when you head out for the rest of the shopping day. Excellent transport links right beside the centre also means it is quick and easy to do your shopping and you don't have to go miles on foot to do it. Whilst I don't drive I do also love that there is a car park in-built to the shopping centre.
Summary: This is a shopping centre which is well placed and well thought out offering variety and quality
