Even when I was a teenager I would scour for bargains at C&A. Got a lovely tight fitting black and white zip up top when I was 14 which still lives in the wardrobe! And alas my last ever bargain my £10 baggy jeans, which I still wear to this day as they are so comfy and long lasting.... why oh why? I'll miss C&A so much ... more |

I absolutely adored this store from day one. I was always encouraged from a very young age to buy things myself with pocketmoney. C&A was great for this because not only were there clothes fashionable but they were at such low prices! I remember many a time when I came out of that store with a top that had cost something ridiculous like £2! Those were the days! Also it helped children, like myself at the time, contribute to christmas as they sold a lot of novelty gifts for pocket money prices and then there was also the chance to buy clothing for family members as gifts without breaking the piggy bank. I was so upset when I found out that all the C&A shops where closing down - why did such a good shop have to go? I know that their sales where down and that they were not making a profit but everyone I know has brought something in there in the last year. Clockhouse was my favourite part but when I was little I got most of my clothes from there. No matter what item of clothing I was looking for it would probably be there. I don't think that people realised how much they used C&A until it had gone. However I recommend that all C&A lovers now look in Primark - they have even cheaper clothes which are mostly up to date. I have to say I was mildy amused to see C&A under a heading of 'Fashion Shops' on Dooyoo today, C&A and fashion not being two words that I have often seen go hand in hand. In fact it seems like I'm one of the few people out there who will be glad to see the back of C&A and their shoddy brand of highly 'daggy' clothing. It is bad enough that the highstreets seem to be getting clogged up with really bad discount clothing stores at the moment - places like Eisenneger and The Officers Club to name but a few in my local area of Colchester, but C&A have been selling trash for years...but now they're going.
